About

Iola Lumber Company - Hardwoods Softwoods & Landscaping Materials

Our Heritage

Iola Lumber Company, though established in 1990, has roots dating back to 1968 when brothers Dale "Roundy" Farr & Dennis Farr began sawing logs with an old handset mill. They grew from a two-man startup & established a sawmill at the current location in 1972, operating as D&D Farr Brothers Lumber Company. They later purchased Millville Lumber & operated under the name Millville Forest Products, producing pallets & other products using lumber from Farr Brother's Lumber. However, in March of 1987, the sawmill burned down forcing them to close their doors.

In 1990, Monte Farr (son of Dennis Farr) purchased the land where Iola Lumber Company is currently located & Iola Lumber Company began sawing lumber once again. A dry kiln was added in 1993 for hardwood lumber used in the flooring & furniture industries. The company ceased sawing logs for the last time in 2002, sold its sawmill, & diversified - adding new products like stone, gravel, & bark mulch - allowing the business to grow through tough, evolving markets. Our most significant diversification was in 1995, when we began producing & distributing high-performance permanent cold asphalt repair material to municipalities, townships, & contractors in surrounding counties. We continue to provide high-quality products & materials to this day.
